Dream It. Pitch It. Win It.

The inaugural Screenwriters Lab, an initiative of IMDA’s Talent Accelerator Programme presented by the Screenwriters Association (Singapore), is looking for television-series concepts across all genres.

Whether you are a veteran screenwriter, or someone just getting their start, Screenwriters Lab seeks original, distinctive voices with stories to tell.

Selected participants will undergo a mentorship programme with renowned international writer-producers. The Lab will culminate in a LIVE pitch, where winners will walk away with attractive cash prizes and have their concepts further developed.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Emerging Track

1. Applicants must have five [5] years or less of experience as a research writer and/or screenwriter.

2. Applicants must have sole or co-writing credit on at least one [1] short-form project. The credited project must have been or is scheduled to be screened publicly by our submission deadline of 21 August 2026.

   1. Both fiction and non-fiction narrative works will be considered.

   2. Non-narrative corporate, commercial and advertising videos will not be accepted.

   3. For the purpose of eligibility, works made available through personal uploads to video-sharing or social media platforms will not be considered. Works presented by third-party platforms, curators, commissioners, or publishers are eligible.

Experienced Track

1. Applicants must have more than five [5] years of experience as a research writer and/or screenwriter.

2. Applicants must also have a sole or co-writing credit on at least one [1] feature film or episode of a long-form project that have been televised and/or screened publicly. The credited project must have been or is scheduled to be screened publicly by our submission deadline of 21 August 2026.

   1. For purposes of eligibility, “Long-form projects” includes narrative feature films and/or television series.

   2. Both fiction and non-fiction works will be considered.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

Only scripted, episodic narrative concepts will be accepted. All submissions must be based on original intellectual property.

The organisers reserve the right to request additional materials such as writing samples, proof of credit, etc to assist with assessment of eligibility.

2. Logline

3. Indication of genre and target audience

4. Synopsis [of not more than 400 words]. The synopsis should:

   1. Present the central idea of the narrative

   2. Provide a clear sense of the story arc and structure, including major beats, climax and ending

5. A short write-up [of up to 120 words] to reflect the main characters, e.g. protagonists, antagonists. These should contain key information such as motivations and potential character arcs.
